The Cardinal Connect:
LJ Scott, a 5-foot-10 210-pound running back from Marion, OH., gave Louisville a verbal commitment on Friday afternoon.
Scott is the sixth player to commit to Louisville this week and the 21st member of Charlie Strong’s 2014 recruiting class. He took an unofficial visit to one of Louisville’s spring practices in April, but we hadn’t heard much about Scott since, but apparently the Louisville staff stayed persistent.
Louisville beat out some big time competition for Scott. He chose the Cardinals over Michigan State, Wisconsin, Boston College, Cincinnati, Indiana and Minnesota. He is ranked as a three star prospect and the second best running back in the state of Ohio.
Scott attends Marion Harding High School, who won just three games last year, which led Scott to fly under the radar. He recently participated in the Nike SPARQ combine and was one of the top performers, which led to multiple scholarship offers.

With JaQuan Lyle committing to Louisville yesterday, Rick Pitino’s backcourt is pretty much set for the near future. In 2014, Louisville will have Wayne Blackshear, Kevin Ware, Chris Jones, Terry Rozier, Anton Gill, Quintin Snider, Shaqquan Aaron and JaQuan Lyle. That is some scary depth in the backcourt.
With three current commitments from the 2014 class, I think you can expect...
How do you celebrate a National Championship? Just ask Rick Pitino. Since the win over Michigan in April, Coach Pitino has been living life like the knob is broke. From getting his first tattoo, to owning a horse running in the Kentucky Derby, to big game fishing, the man has done it all this offseason.
