Alabama fought the good fight, but it was unable to advance to weekend play in the Southeastern Conference Basketball Tournament. Florida survived a last-gasp three-point attempt that would have sent the game to overtime, and defeated the Crimson Tide, 66-63, in the New Orleans Arena.

Alabama Baseball Drops Another Game
The Alabama baseball team dropped a 3-1 decision to the East Carolina Pirates on the opening day of the Alabama Baseball Classic at Sewell-Thomas Stadium on Friday night. With the loss the Crimson Tide drops to 5-8 on the year, while ECU improves to 9-3.

Unique Title Sweep Possible For Tide
Alabama football entered the year with a lofty ranking, nothing new for a program flush with national championships. At the end of the season, the Crimson Tide claimed a 14th title. Anthony Grant’s third Alabama basketball team had preseason respect with a top 25 spot in the polls. Absent from the NCAA Tournament since 2006, they expect to be included in the field of 68 announced Sunday.
Three-Point Run Helps Gators Advance
The box score didn't look pretty for Florida. Alabama shot almost 15% better than the Gators, won the rebounding margin by five and the teams were similar from the free throw line. Somehow, No. 19 Florida managed still to pull out a 66-63 win over the Crimson Tide to advance to the SEC Tournament semifinals. Florida head coach Billy Donovan chalked it up to the late three-pointers.
Saban Must Rebuild Cornerback Spots
When Alabama had its Pro Day Wednesday, three noticeable performers were 2011 Crimson Tide cornerbacks Dre Kirkpatrick, DeQuan Menzie, and Phelon Jones. And all have a chance to be taken in the NFL draft in April. If Bama is losing three cornerbacks, it’s reasonable to say that the position—which calls for two men--is in need of rebuilding.
