Steve Williams seems totally incapable of getting over his sudden termination by Woods back in 2011. Williams infamously referred to Tiger as a ‘black a__hole’ in the wake of his relationship with Woods being severed. Well it appears Williams isn’t quite ready to let bygones be bygones as he chimed in on Tiger’s controversial drop in the second round for 3 News in his native country of New Zealand, via USA Today : “From what I can gather, he took an illegal drop, signed a scorecard and left the course,…Under most circumstances that would result in disqualification. … If the Rules of Golf are upheld, I believe he should have been disqualified.” On the surface it seems that his point his fair, but when you couple it with him stating that the winning putt Adam Scott took as being the highlight of his career because he read it, then it’s clear Williams still harbors some sour grapes. Williams experienced a similar situation with Woods in 1999 at the PGA Championship, Williams in fact overruled Tiger’s read on a 10-foot putt on the 71st hole. Given the bad breakup and the ‘throw Tiger under the bus’ press tour Williams embarked on, is his calling for Tiger’s DQ just another jab the formerly scorned caddy is taking at his struggling ex-boss?
