Miguel Cabrera and the Detroit Tigers did not want a diagnosis until after the season had concluded.  So they didn’t look too deeply at Cabrera’s groin, hip, and abdominal problems.  However, once the Boston Red Sox knocked them out of the ALCS, it was time to figure out the severity of Cabrera’s injury.  He has now been diagnosed with a groin tear and may need surgery. Jason Beck of MLB.com says the injury will likely require surgery.  The Tigers’ general manager Dave Dombrowski revealed the injury yesterday. “He has a groin [injury], they say Grade 2, Grade 3, which means there’s some tearing of fibers in that area,” Dombrowski said. “It was not going to heal with rest, we were assured of that.” It’s amazing that Cabrera was able to produce at all in the postseason or down the stretch considering the severity of the injury.  Yet, he helped carry the Tigers into the postseason, provided some pop in the playoffs, and was both the emotional and inspirational leader for the team.  Ima
