Rumors and Rants:
The Los Angeles Lakers finally got back to .500 on Sunday night with a 99-98 win over the Atlanta Hawks. It was a hard-fought victory on the NBA’s “Noche Latina” during which “Los Lakers” relied heavily on superstar guard Kobe Bryant.
Bryant was spectacular, scoring 34 points, while adding six rebounds, four assists and two steals. But the moment of the game came late in the fourth quarter, when he threw down an insane dunk.
With the Lakers trailing 94-93 and just more than two minutes remaining, Bryant got the ball at the top of the key and was guarded by Hawks forward Josh Smith. Kobe waited patiently through a screen by Dwight Howard, then sprung unto action with a cross-over dribble to his right hand. He streaked down the right side of the lane on two dribbles, then elevated for a thunderous right-handed dunk over Smith.
It was absolutely gorgeous and got the Staples Center crowd up and going wild.

Tweet The Black Mamba may be 34 years old, but when it comes down to crunch-time of a game, he’s still going to deliver. Kobe Bryant and the Lakers were in a tight contest in the fourth quarter with the Hawks, down 94-93, when Kobe drove down the lane and hammered down this monster jam [...]
Kobe AKA Black Mamba AKA Vino is showing that age is just a number as far as he’s concerned. Check out this dunk on Hawks Josh Smith from the Lakers win on Sunday.
That actually looked like #8 fro Kobe. The Lakers are now at .500 with about 6 weeks left until the playoffs
During a recent special on NBA TV, Michael Jordan was asked who is the best player is in the game today, Kobe Bryant or LeBron James?
The six-time NBA champion and five-time league MVP's gives a bit of a mixed signal with his answer, but ultimately chooses Bryant because of his five titles.
Kobe Bryant got the Lakers back to a .500 record (30-30) after a 34 point night that included the go-ahead layup with nine seconds left. Apparently the Black Mamba is also a big Entourage fan as he celebrated Los Angeles’ win by high-fiving with Entourage star, Jeremy Piven (Air Gold).
Kobe Bryant is in his 17th season in the NBA. Many expected the superstar to finally start showing his age this season and begin to slow down, but by all accounts that has not been the case. Shooting a career high in FG%, the Black Mamba is showing us that he still has plent left [...]
The Big Leagues The Lakers guard posterizes Josh Smith, then hits game-winner for good measure.
Since Kobe Bryant and his Lakers are playing right now against the OKC Thunder, I might as well post this look I missed from him during the NBA All Star Weekend.I like to keep my material fresh and up-to-date, but umm, YOLO(On this post). At the 2013 NBA Celebrity All-Star game, Kobe wore a chic printed $595 Givenchy Cotton Modal Airplane Scarf. The vintage military design of this...
Although Kobe Bryant has coined his own nicknames before, his latest self-created moniker seemed particularly appropriate after an intoxicating performance against Atlanta.
Kobe called himself Vino, and the Los Angeles Lakers are savoring this particular vintage.

PHOENIX Friday night provided a strong dose of evidence that a couple of those NBA trade-deadline reports supplied by national media sharpies were accurate.
Josh Smith really did help the Phoenix Suns finish the season on a roll that may prevent them from landing an extremely early pick in the 2013 draft.
By the way, Smith remains employed by the Atlanta Hawks, who lost 92-87...

The baseball world has been taken back by the use of analytics, which introduced an entirely new way to look at the game. The basketball world has begun to catch on, following innovation from guys like John Hollinger.

I have to start this post by saying, good job by Kobe to getting by Al Horford for an easy two.
Now I can break down everything the Hawks did wrong here. First off, why don't teams double players like Kobe or Lebron and make someone else beat you? I never understand that. Secondly, that was a terrible job of Josh Smith fighting through the pick by Dwight allowing the Lakers...
