A tremendous example of sportsmanship was displayed during a recent soccer match in Saudi Arabia even though the referee did his best to sour the moment. In the match between Al Nahdha and Al Ittihad, with the score knotted at two, goalkeeper Taisir Al Antaif was about to clear the ball before he realized his left shoe lace was untied.Unable to easily tie the shoes by himself, due in part to the giant gloves he was wearing, an opposing player noticed Al Antaif's plight, and proceeded to run over and bend down to tie the goalie's lace.Touched by his opponent's sportsmanship, Al Antaif patted the Brazilian striker on the back, then the two exchanged high-fives.All was well until the referee decided to step in and put the brakes on the kind deed by punishing Al Antaif for taking too long to clear the book. The referee booked Al Antaif and award Al Ittihad an indirect free kick from just outside the penalty area.As a further display of sportsmanship, they refused to take advantage of the referee's lack of compassion, and simply kicked the ball off the pitch. The game ended fittingly in a 4-4 tie.Via Metro
