Yeah, it’s a fine game before and afterwards as well, but I was searching for a snappy headline and that’s what I landed on.  Don’t like it?  Don’t care. The footballer in the picture to the left with his face being trampled on is Cristiano Diaz, a defender for Newell’s Old Boys of the Argentina Primera Division.  The foot belongs to All Boys’ defender Carlos Soto and I may be going out on a limb here, but I’ll say that Diaz got the worst of this exchange. Soto’s initial tackle may have been a foul, but the act of stepping on Diaz’s face was purely accidental.  Somehow I doubt that will make the Old Boys defender’s mug feel any better. Video follows the jump… Now you’d think that when this sort of injury befalls a soccer player, they’ll most likely be stretchered off in great distress, eventually returning to play after a somewhat short recovery period, you know, to keep up appearances.
