Solomon Patton opened the second half of the Florida Gators-Mizzou Tigers game with a thrilling 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
BEST OF MAXIM
Florida’s offense gained just 61 yards in the first half against Missouri. But if the Gators can get a few more special teams touchdowns, they might escape Columbia with an upset win.
Senior wideout Solomon Patton returned the opening kickoff of the second half over 100 yards to bring the Gators to within three of the Tigers – 13-10. Patton wasn’t even touched.
In a game that had some Florida football fans thinking back to the days of Ron Zook, the No. 22 Florida Gators (4-3, 3-2 SEC) suffered their second straight loss Saturday, a 36-17 defeat at the hands of the No. 14 Missouri Tigers (7-0, 3-0 SEC).
Florida entered the game with hopes of regaining control of the SEC East, but those hopes were quickly forgotten as Missouri dominated the...

College football week 8 picks
Most of our picks last week converged, meaning we would either sink or swim by the results of the Saturday games. Luckily for all of us, most of those choices came through, highlighted by Missouri’s upset of Georgia. Ultimately, though, I pulled even with Zach in the overall standings after I laid the points with Texas A&M and fell for the decision...
Offense – With recent news of junior wide receiver DeVante Parker suiting up in pads for practice this week I think it’s safe to feel pretty good about his availability against Central Florida Friday night. Since Parker does nothing but catch touchdowns, I’m pretty certain he’ll be very effective for the Cards. Since going down with a shoulder injury in the first quarter...
Bill Murray, the famous actor, made an appearance on ESPN and picked the Florida Gators over the Missouri Tigers. He claimed it was because they shot the film Caddyshack in Florida and he loved the weather. He also said he filmed a movie in Missouri and it rained the whole time. He also beat the heck out of Lee Corso dressed as a Seminole and picked Clemson to beat FSU. We love you...
A Florida player brought a Chucky doll into the stadium on Saturday prior to the team's game against Missouri. The Gators are done with the child's play.
After Florida fell to the Mizzou Tigers, 36-17, on Saturday, several Gators players spoke to reporters about the team's second straight loss.
On a day where there was very little positive to point out for the Florida Gators, one of the best things to see was the play of freshman running back Kelvin Taylor. Taylor was expected to see more playing time than usual and had 12 rushes on the day for 74 yards and a touchdown.
The No. 22 ranked Florida Gators will travel to play against the No. 14 Missouri Tigers on Saturday.
At 4-2 things have not gone the way Florida had hoped while Missouri (6-0) has strung together six consecutive wins to move up to No. 14 in the rankings.
Coverage of the game between Florida and Missouri will air on GamePlan and ESPN3 beginning at 12:21 pm ET from Faurot Field in...
When Erik Murphy heard his name called by Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver in the second round of June's NBA draft the first phone call he received was from Gar Forman a standard call to receive for any draftee.
But the second call Murphy received was a bit more surprising.
"Jo called me Joakim (Noah)" Murphy said during today's Bulls Day at Comcast SportsNet....
There wasn’t much that went as planned for the Gators on Saturday. Florida quarterback Tyler Murphy missed practice until Thursday this week but played through a shoulder injury. While the offense struggled to find its rhythm, the Florida defense couldn’t hold up its end of the bargain. The Gators gave up 500 yards for the first time since 2007.
The Gators have started to take more transfers in recent years, and every time Billy Donovan decides to add one to his team, the same thing happens. During the year the player is sitting out because of NCAA rules, the hype builds. Players suddenly gain expectations outside the program that aren’t what is expected out of him by the coaching staff and his teammates.
There are some notable games to watch this weekend.
#5 Florida State (5-0) at #3 Clemson (6-0), Winner wins the Division.
#22 Florida Gators (4-2) against #14 Missouri Tigers (6-0), who will be starting a Redshirt Freshman (Matt Mock).
UCLA at Stanford, who have beaten the Bruins 5 straight times.
#24 Auburn (5-1) at #7 Texas A&M (5-1). Auburn was exposed in their only loss...
Will Muschamp wanted to see positive strides on the offense, but they haven’t come this season. If anything, the offense has gotten worse. The Gators have tried to create yardage different ways on the ground or through the air without any success. Florida has a bye week to figure out some changes on offense before facing Georgia, but as of now, there isn’t much to build on.
