Tweet The Memphis Grizzlies haven’t had much to get excited about to start the 2013-14 NBA season. After making it to the Western Conference Finals last year, the Grizzlies are below .500 and have looked sloppy at times. However, their luck might be changing or at least Zach Randolph’s luck was certainly pretty good when he got this “tip-in” to fall: I’m not even sure if that qualifies as an actual tip-in or even an actual field goal attempt, but two points is two points. Not letting that stroke of good fortune go to waste, the Grizz edged the Lakers by a final of 89-86 in the game.

GGGTV: Tony Allen Talks Defense

When the Memphis Grizzlies lost in a 103-87 blowout to the Toronto Raptors, the team was left searching for answers on defense. VIDEO: Lakers vs. Grizzlies – full highlights (11/15/13)

GAME RECAPS The Lakers played well tonight, but they were beaten by a very hot – and very lucky – Zach Randolph. During the first quarter, Randolph scored what must have been one of the luckier baskets in NBA history. He had an offensive rebound fall into his hands, but ended up juggling it like a hot potato. As he tried to regain control, he hit the ball with his left hand –...

Grizzlies Zach Randolph still drawing paycheck from Trailblazers

Oh, no wonder ZBo said he'd be willing to make sacrifices to stay in Memphis for the longterm. The Los Angeles Times published an interesting story on professional athletes using deferred compensation options in contract negotiations, i.e., players that will allow teams to pay part of their contract salary at a later date in time, usually years after the contract has expired...

Josh Akognon Signing With Qingdao Of China

Free agent guard Josh Akognon has reached agreement on a substantial one-year contract with Qingdao Eagles of the Chinese Basketball Association, sources told RealGM. Akognon will make significantly more money with Qingdao than if he had signed with one of the several NBA teams that showed recent interest. With Qingdao, Akognon’s season will be completed and have him available...

Zach Randolph scored nine of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and also had 10 rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 97-86 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. The Grizzlies led by 20 points in the third quarter and survived a second-half rally by the Kings to win their second straight on their four-game road trip that includes tough games Monday against the Clippers...

Randolph, Grizzlies top Kings

After some early struggles to start the season, the Memphis Grizzlies appear to have found the formula that led to a franchise-record 56 victories in 2012-13. Zach Randolph scored nine of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and also had 10 rebounds to lead the Grizzlies to a 97-86 victory over the slumping Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Three Point Play: Grizzlies at L.A. Lakers, 11/15/2013

The Grizzlies start a four-game California road trip tonight, kicking off against the Lakers. With Kobe still healing from his Achilles tear, and Steve Nash out with nerve pain, the Lakers have actually been playing better than expected, they can and will beat you, particularly with their bench putting up nearly 50 points a night. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are 0-3 behind sloppy, uninspired...

Grizzlies-Lakers Preview

The Memphis Grizzlies have hardly played like the dominant defensive team that recorded the best season in franchise history in 2012-13. Facing the struggling Los Angeles Lakers - among the league's least efficient offensive clubs - could prove to be at least a temporary cure for their woes. Memphis seeks its first road victory of the season Friday night against the Lakers...

CC video of the day: Z-Bo's crazy shot

Talk about luck. Grizzlies' Zach Randolph probably did not call this shot before it went in. You know the, "go for the rebound, tap the ball with your hand without securing it and hit it in the air with your back to the rim as the ball sinks into the bucket" shot. Check out Z-Bo's wild circus shot versus the Lakers. [follow]

Z-Bo dominates as Griz open West Coast trip with 89-86 win over Lakers

Less than four minutes remained when the score seesawed and the Grizzlies’ goal of using the start of a four-game road trip to patch holes in their game remained in the balance. But they ended up owning the time that mattered most. Memphis got defensive stops, clutch rebounds and even bigger baskets from power forward Zach Randolph on Friday night throughout the closing moments...

Kobe Bryant Writes Touching Foreword for Pau Gasol’s New Book

A couple of years ago award-winning photographer Lori Shepler approached Pau Gasol with the idea of collaborating on a book project that gives an in-depth look into his life, with basketball being just a small piece of the puzzle. A few years later, the 16 chapter book titled Life Vida is here. As the title suggests, the book is written in English and Spanish. Pau reveals details...

Game Report: Grizzlies (4-5) defeat Lakers (4-7) 89 – 86

The Lakers played well tonight, but they were beaten by a very hot – and very lucky – Zach Randolph.
