Percy Harvin has been listed as doubtful for today's game with a severely sprained ankle.  He missed practice all week and has not looked ready to go.  Now, it has all but been confirmed.  Percy Harvin will not play against the Detroit Lions today. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Harvin's injury will not allow him to play today.  He had not been ruled out earlier because of his toughness, but the team needed to see some improvement or progress in order to consider starting him.  They didn't, so he will sit. Harvin has been one of the Minnesota Vikings' most productive wide receivers.  They will have to rely on their run game more with Harvin on the bench.  Harvin already has 677 receiving yards through nine games.  He had 967 in 16 games last season.  This year, Harvin also has three touchdowns, bringing his career total to 20. The Vikings have struggles since starting the season hot.  They burst out of the gate to a 4-1 start but have fell to earth.  In the congested NFC, the Vikings will need this win to stay in playoff contention.  They are currently 5-4, but falling to .500 in a league that already has seven teams over .500 could spell the end of the season.  Harvin's absence is a big blow, but it doesn't mean they can't win.  They Lions have struggled this season and are just 4-4 on the year.
