Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been hit with a $10,000 fine by the National Football League after violating one of its strict uniform policies.
As part of his endorsement deal with Under Armour, Newton has been wearing blacked-out Under Armour helmet clips attached to his facemask, which is not allowed because UA is not an official uniform partner of the NFL.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been wearing Under Armor visor clips for a while now, but no one, especially the NFL, seemed to notice.
After Chris Smith of Forbes.com pointed it out, the league has decided to fine Newton $10,000 for wearing the clips last Sunday. He apparently won't face any retroactive discipline for wearing them on weeks 1-2.

And maybe it was, but the interview Newton did, along with the accompanying photos, ended up costing him $10,000.
The reason: A photo taken during the interview that showed a couple of blacked out Under Armour visor clips.
We reported Wednesday that Forbes magazine snitched on Cam Newton for wearing a visor bearing a prohibited Under Armour logo. Now, after having worn it for the majority of his career along with other Panther teammates the NFL has fined Newton, and only Newton $10,000.
