Ty Lawson, the driver of the Nuggets offense, the spark that pushes the engine, has been surprisingly absent this season. After steadily improving his game over his first three seasons and truly taking over as the Nuggets leader last season, Lawson appears to have regressed some early in this season. While the minutes and the assists are up, the rest of his stats…along with his confidence are way down. Aside from the drop in numbers, what is really startling is the lack of confidence and composure that Ty is displaying, two things that were always his strength. Ty made his impact on the Nuggets and the league by fearless and composed play. As an undersized guard, he stood out by fearlessly attacking the basket and not worrying about being the smaller guard. He displayed a passion and effort on offense that made quickly rise to the top of the Nuggets hierarchy. Furthermore, his composure always kept him in check. He would not go overboard and make dumb mistakes, he was very cerebral and locked into every play. For what I just described, the current Ty Lawson appears to be the exact opposite.
