http://nyyankeesrumors.com/whats-up-with-wang-matsuzaka/ Chien-Ming Wang and Daisuke Matsuzaka have disappointed fans on both side of the rivalry. Wang had back-to-back 19 win seasons, which made him the winningest pitcher in baseball over a two year period. On the other hand, Dice-K had a terrific 2008 campaign, as he posted an 18-3 record with a 2.90ERA. 2009 Season: Wang: W-L 0-5 ERA 12.30 K 21 Walks 14 WHIP 2.43 Matsuzaka: W-L 1-5 ERA 8.23 K 34 Walks 18 WHIP 2.20 Both have put up horrid numbers this season. Wang came off the disabled list, but hasn’t taken off just yet. He is improving, but he isn’t even close to what he was before. Wang has to get it together, or the Yankees could be in deep trouble. If the Yankees ever want to put Joba in the pen, then they would need effective starts out of Wang. Phil Hughes is waiting for his chance to get back into the rotation. Matsuzaka was placed on the 15-day disabled list this past Sunday with a fatigued right shoulder. The Red Sox don’t see it as a serious shoulder injury, but who knows what exactly is wrong with the guy. Many feel that he wasn’t prepared for the regular season, as he played in the World Baseball Classic instead of attending Spring Training. I bet a lot of Red Sox fans are regretting giving this guy $103M.
