Vernon Wells homered against his former team, and leadoff batter Eduardo Nunez drove in four runs as New York equaled its highest run total of the season. The second-worst, run-producing offense in the AL won by more than three runs for the first time in 26 games. Jason Vargas (6-5) gave up two homers in his first start since having surgery to remove a blood clot from near his left armpit on June 26, including Soriano's go-ahead two-run drive in the fifth.

Boston Sports Club ad takes shot at A-Rod

Our detective skills tell us that this Boston Sports Club newspaper ad is talking about Alex Rodriguez, what do you think? This ad was seen in today’s edition of the Boston Herald, a nice shot at the 211-game suspension handed down to A-Rod. The Yankees third baseman is appealing the suspension, but is likely to serve most, if not all of it when an arbitrator makes his decision.

Report: A-Rod hires top lawyer

Facing a fight with the Yankees and MLB that could make it all the way to federal court, Alex Rodriguez reportedly has retained top New York lawyer Joe Tacopina. Tacopina has had several high-profile criminal cases, including those of Kenneth Moreno, an NYPD officer acquitted of rape, and former senator Hiram Monserrate, who pleaded guilty to using $100,000 of nonprofit funds for...

Alfonso Soriano makes history with 13 RBIs in two days

If there is one thing that every baseball player wants other than a World Series trophy, it is to be remembered as one of the greats; to have their name mentioned in the same breath as legendary ball players such as Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Yankees outfielder Alfonso Soriano already has a pair of World Series rings from

Alex Rodriguez Scores Season High

Alex Rodriguez seems to be all over the news and people can’t get enough of him.  Sports is entertainment and there’s no figure in sports now who is more entertaining than Alex Rodriguez.  Like him or not, he is moving the needle. And the guys sitting in the pinstripe suits in high rise buildings that sell advertising are liking Alex Rodriguez. That fact is underscored by the...

Alex Rodriguez Makes Return to Fenway this Weekend, Red Sox Manager John Farrell Says It’s ‘Out of Our Hands’

It’s always a spectacle when the Red Sox take on the Yankees. But one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports will have an added bit of intrigue when New York travels to Boston this weekend. Alex Rodriguez will play at Fenway Park for the first time since he was suspended 211 games by Major League Baseball for his involvement in the Biogenesis performance-enhancing drug scandal...

Report: A-Rod's lawyer denies claims

Alex Rodriguez's legal team plans to contest Major League Baseball's allegation that the New York Yankees third baseman is a repeat offender of the league's drug policy, ESPN reports.

Sympathy for the Devil

In light of the Biogenesis scandal, Joe Healy feels (gasp!) sympathy for the disgraced Alex Rodriguez.

Links of the Day 8/15/13

Good morning. It appears that the spambots really think that my readers need a cheap place to shop for Luis Vuitton. Purdue hopes that Darrell Hazell is the solution at head coach. A cool look into baseball history, including a rookie Alex Rodriguez and a 20 year old David Ortiz. I probably shouldn’t link to this in the event people in my fantasy leagues are reading. SCOREBOARD...
