New York Yankees officials are "infuriated" with Alex Rodriguez after the maligned third basemen failed to show up to a rehab game he was scheduled to play in for Single-A Tampa on Friday.Rodriguez had a meeting with Major League Baseball officials in the afternoon to discuss the Biogenesis investigation and was supposed to be finished in time to appear in the game. However, that obviously didn't come to fruition.Rodriguez's absence reportedly sent the Yankees "scrambling to find him" before the veteran eventually told them he was not going to play.It should be noted that the game was delayed and eventually postponed due to inclement weather. But that didn't excuse the 38-year-old for not suiting up. In fact, multiple reports stated that Rodriguez never even made it to the stadium. But sources say Rodriguez had enough time to get from the nearby location where he was interrogated to the park before any official word had come down about whether the game would be played or not. He was not excused by organization officials from attending the game and, in fact, the Yankees had been told by MLB the interview would be done in a timeframe to allow Rodriguez to continue his rehab games, and the meeting ended about two hours before the scheduled first pitch.Reached by phone, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman refused to comment on whether Rodriguez was absent without permission. Rodriguez and his spokespersons did not respond to questions about why he did not go to the stadium.Multiple sources have told The Post that Rodriguez never made it to George M. Steinbrenner Field, where the Yankees also hold major league spring training. Rodriguez did show up Saturday and was in the starting lineup.A spokesperson for Rodriguez said that he laments the fact the game was rained out and that he had nothing else to add.
