Floyd Mayweather Jr. has fans all over the country, and many people would love to see the pound for pound king fight on the east coast sometimes. After getting a standing ovation while sitting ringside for Broner vs Malignaggi, ESPN.com is reporting that the Barclay Center is showing strong interest in hosting one of Floyd Mayweather’s final four bouts. During the Broner vs Malignaggi bout, Mayweather sat with Barclays Center and Nets CEO Brett Yormark and Bruce Ratner, and at some point, I’m sure the question about Floyd fighting in Brooklyn came up. Ratner is the man responsible for bringing the Barclays Center to Brooklyn, and sources say he’s very interested in helping Brooklyn secure the financial heaven that a Mayweather weekend can bring the borough. “There is certainly interest in both the ownership and the building to bring Floyd here,” the Barclays source told me. The biggest stumbling block reportedly would be the tax law in New York State.  Entertainers get a chunk of taxes taken out of their earnings. Sources say the tax law would definitely have to be worked around, to get Floyd to even consider fighting in Brooklyn. A Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight in Brooklyn would take on the scene of Mardi Gras.  Fight fans from Philadelphia, Jersey, the five boroughs, Maryland, D.C. and Virginia  would come in droves.
