(Credit: sho.com) In possibly his toughest outing since Oscar De La Hoya in 2007, Floyd Mayweather pulled it together in time to gain a majority decision over Argentinian slugger Marcos Maidana. With the win, Mayweather became the first boxer in history to unify two alphabet belts in two weight classes at the same time. Maidana came out in the early rounds with extreme aggression, forcing Mayweather into the ropes and being the busier fighter. Maidana would continue to be the busier fighter for the most of the bout, and early on it looked like he had a chance to score the upset. Then Floyd decided to be Floyd. After a hellacious first few rounds, Mayweather proved why he is the reigning pound-for-pound king. He made adjustments to Maidana’s wildly aggressive style on the fly, throwing perfectly timed counters, lead right hands, and hooks to the body.
