17 Jun 1995: Riddick Bowe raises his arm in victory after a bout against Jorge Luis Gonzalez. Bowe won the fight with a knockout in the sixth round.
It was announced earlier today that former two-time heavyweight boxing champion Riddick Bowe will be making his pro wrestling debut on March 1, 2014 for Preston City Wrestling based out of the United Kingdom. Bowe became the undisputed heavyweight champion in 1992 when he defeated Evander Holyfield. The former boxing champion left boxing in 1996 and enrolled in the Marines, but quit after three days. Bowe since then only has had three boxing fights since 1996 and even had a Muay Thai fight in June and lost in the second round, when he could no longer continue. Preston City Wrestling is excited to have Bowe participating in their promotion. “This is an exciting coup for Preston City Wrestling. Riddick Bowe is one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time and has been training hard to make the transition to the wrestling ring,” said Preston City Wrestling Owner Steven Fludder.
