Manny Pacquiao responds to Floyd Mayweather: 'I want to challenge the best'

Manny Pacquiao has responded to Floyd Mayweather Jr., who recently said Pacquiao continues to fight because "he has to."

During an appearance on the "Power & Play" show, Pacquiao said he's still fighting at age 42 because of his passion for boxing. He added that he also wants to continue fighting the best.

"I'm not like some other guys who are in it just for the money," Pacquiao said in Filipino, according to ESPN's Eros Villanueva. "Some other fighters challenge non-boxers just to get paid. I want to fight. I want to challenge the best.

"If I'm fighting for the money, then I would have picked some scrub to fight," he added, referring to his upcoming welterweight match against Errol Spence Jr. "Why would I try to fight an undefeated fighter if I'm chasing the paycheck? This is a real fight. I fight because this is my passion. I love beating undefeated fighters and bringing honor to my country."

Pacquiao is one of the best boxers of the 21st century, and he has an upcoming bout against Spence on Aug. 21 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. 

The native of the Philippines has a 62–7–2 record as a professional, with 39 wins by knockout. His passion for boxing is undeniable, and it's no surprise he came right back at Mayweather with these recent comments.
