The Last Three Opponents of Canelo

Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) will look to remain the undisputed super middleweight champion when he takes on Jaime Munguía (43-0, 34 KOs) in an all-Mexican clash.

The two fighters meet in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Fight fans can purchase the May 4 card from Prime Video, DAZN and PPV.com. The clash will see Álvarez defend his status as undisputed champion for a fourth time.

After losing a unanimous decision to Dmitry Bivol in May 2022, Canelo has won all three of his fights since. Each of those bouts went the distance and saw him make successful defences of his world titles. Jermell Charlo

In a fight that saw two reigning undisputed champions face each other, Canelo had an easy night against Jermell Charlo(35-2-1, 19 KOs). The American jumped from super welterweight to super middleweight for this clash. Over 12 rounds, Canelo outworked his opponent, even getting a knockdown in round seven. In the end, he won a wide unanimous decision. Scores for the bout were 119-108 and 118-109 (x2).

John Ryder

This was Canelo’s first fight in his native México in over a decade. With tens of thousands in attendance, the undisputed champion dominated the fight against John Ryder (32-7, 18 KOs) from the beginning. In round five, he sent the Englishman to the canvas. However, Ryder was a durable opponent, going the distance despite getting outworked. Canelo won by unanimous decision with scores of 120-107 and 118-109 (x2).

Gennadiy Golovkin

While their first two fights sold over two million PPV units combined, Canelo’s trilogy against Gennadiy Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) was not as big of a financial success. Despite that, Canelo settled the score against the Kazakh, winning a clear unanimous decision. Over 12 rounds – Golovkin was outboxed and unable to replicate the success of their previous encounters. The final scorecards read 116-112 and 115-113 (x2) for the Mexican star.
