Second-half goals from Raul Jimenez and Christian Benitez ensured Club America moved up to fourth in the Mexican Apertura after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Santos Laguna. Following a goalless opening half, it took just three minutes after the interval until Jimenez broke the deadlock before Benitez sealed victory for Club America in the 74th minute. Luis Garcia bagged a brace as Tigres eased past Cruz Azul 2-0. Garcia put hosts Cruz Azul on course for the win after scoring on the stroke of half-time and added his second in the 61st minute. Finally, 10-man Atlas were held to a goalless draw in their home clash against Queretaro. The hosts had Gregorio Torres sent off five minutes from time as they claimed their sixth stalemate in their opening eight games of the season.
