Turki Alalshikh Gives Update On the Postponed Fury vs Usyk Fight

It’s been a crazy day as news broke earlier that the undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury & Oleksandr Usyk was postponed due to Fury suffering a cut over his right eye during a sparring session. Although the initial thought was that the event could still be salvaged, as Dan Rafael reported, Filip Hrgovic was a name being explored, the event as a whole has been postponed.

Saudi Arabia’s Chairman of General Authority for Entertainment, Turki Alalshikh, went on his social media accounts to update everyone on the event. In the press release, he officially postpones the entire event for a later date, squashing the thought of a last-minute replacement for Usyk. The press release reads as follows:

Unfortunately, they could not salvage the event, and those fighters on the undercard not only have to look for other options in the intermediate but also lost the money spent on their training camp. Reports have been circulating that June could be the next target for this event, but if Fury’s cut is as bad as the photo looks, it may be closer to the fall before the fight happens, leaving Usyk sitting on the sidelines to wait for Fury.
