Roughly around 7:30 Monday night, the ‘Cats were in the midst of practice on the floor at Robert Morris University. The ‘Cats were getting prepared to play the Colonials of the NEC in their game of the NIT Tournament. The RMU campus is somewhat of a homecoming for Kentucky head coach John Calipari. Despite missing the NCAA Tournament, he gets to go back to his hometown of Moon Township, PA. He may have some emotional ties to the area, but he is all business on this trip.
Pittsburgh area recruit Ryan Skovranko and three of his teammates were invited to watch the ‘Cats prepare for their matchup with Robert Morris. Skovranko garnered some attention from Calipari a month ago, and now has been invited back by the coach to watch practice. He tweeted the picture below, with the #BBN hashtag. The 6’7” junior has said Kentucky is his favorite school.
The under-the-radar recruit is not ranked by any national recruiting services, but has gained interest from Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Iowa, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and DePaul. Why is Calipari interested? The kid is 6’7”, and can play like a guard. He has the athletic ability to be a matchup nightmare, and the length to overpower other players at multiple positions.
