On Wednesday, a pair of Michigan State basketball players were involved in an altercation which resulted in a busted lip and a dented wall.Head coach Tom Izzo identified the players as forward Branden Dawson and center Adreian Payne via statement. Neither player started the Spartans' game against Penn State on Wednesday as punishment."A scuffle that began as two players needling each other resulted in a dented wall,” Izzo said in his statement. “We'll deal with this appropriately, and the players will willingly accept responsibility for paying for any property damage. I've spent my entire afternoon meeting with the players involved, and they are both sincerely remorseful. What makes matters even more confusing is that they are off-campus roommates. As a result of their actions, neither one will start tonight's game."The incident was said to have occurred in the second-floor lobby of the Nittany Lion Inn during the morning. Michigan State will be asked to pay for the damage to the wall.No arrests or charges have been made. Neither play needed medical attention after sustaining just minor scratches.Dawson is averaging 10.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this season. Payne is averaging 8.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.Via Detroit Free Press
