A serious question facing the 2011-12 Badgers is whether or not they can replace the production from departing seniors Jon Leuer, Keaton Nankivil and Tim Jarmusz. In Sunday’s annual Red-White Scrimmage at the Kohl Center, part of that question was possibly answered.
Sophomore guard Ben Brust stepped up in a big way to score a game-high 22 points and lead the Red to a 72-56 win over the White squad who was led by preseason All-American Jordan Taylor.
“He can have a scoring frenzy at times. He did it last year at practice every once in a while. He’s quick with the ball and includes his teammates,” said Head Coach Bo Ryan of his young guard Brust.
Brust (pictured above) also recorded five rebounds and four assists to cap off a solid performance on his journey to become a key reserve off Ryan’s bench. If Brust can do the same things during the regular season, the Badgers project to have a deep backcourt along with second-year starter Josh Gasser who surprised a f...

Red and White game offers peek at lineup
MADISON, Wis. -- One intra-varsity scrimmage, with a running clock in a barely-filled Kohl Center on a drizzly Sunday in October, does not reveal anything that is set in stone.
But if Sunday's Red and White game gave us even an early, albeit small window into this year's Wisconsin men's basketball lineup, then the Badgers just might have found their third guard in the...

Wisconsin Badgers Football: Fourth Quarter Comeback Falls Short–Again
Down 26-14 with under four minutes left in the game, Russell Wilson led the offense on a furious comeback, throwing two touchdowns to Jared Abbrederis to give Wisconsin a 29-26 lead with just over a minute to go. But, just like in last week’s heartbreaking loss to Michigan State, the Badgers’ defense couldn’t keep the opposing offense off the board in the final...
Wilson, Ball outshine teammates in loss
It's hard to believe that Wisconsin's football team could find a way to lose in such similarly devastating fashion in back-to-back weeks.
First, it was the last-second, 44-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass against Michigan State a week ago. Then, on Saturday, it was a 40-yard touchdown strike from Ohio State with just 20 seconds remaining. Ohio State knocked off Wisconsin, 33...
Badgers hurting after another improbable finish
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Bret Bielema, you have your work cut out for you. In six years as Wisconsins coach, Bielema has had few brushes with adversity. The biggest dose came in 2008 when the Badgers started the Big Ten season 0-4, but losing two straight games the way the Wisconsin has will test Bielemas coaching ability in a unique way. Sitting sixth in the BCS standings just eight days...
Wisconsin values tradition over flashiness
MADISON, Wis. Oregon's football program maintains enough uniform combinations to last for nearly a decade's worth of games without ever worrying about duplication. Maryland's flashy color mixtures featuring elements of the state flag don't improve the product on the field, but they create a significant stir for a team that doesn't otherwise generate much national...

For The Second Week In A Row, Wisconsin Lost On A Ridiculous Last-Second Pass
People across the country might be celebrating Halloween tonight, but for the Wisconsin Badgers it feels more like Groundhog Day. While it wasn't technically a Hail Mary (it was first down and there were 30 seconds left) the details don't much matter as Ohio State—after giving up the lead late themselves—managed a 40-yard TD pass that came ever-so-close to being...
