Badgers Basketball Legend Brian Butch Offers Advice to Wisconsin Fans

As mentioned, Wisconsin is mired in a bad streak of losing games. Many fans have written them off already. John Kuhn asked Brian Butch if there comes a time where “there isn’t enough time” to turn the season around. In response, Butch said:

“Now, there are some things that are happening with this team that aren’t good. I’m sick of people saying ‘Fire Gard.’ That irresponsible. That’s not intelligent. If you wanna say they have lack of depth, yeah. And their lack of depth goes back to one class, okay? Johnny Davis: he’s gone. Bowman? He left the team. He could have been there, right? But he had some personal problems. That happens. Carlson: decided to leave. That’s the class. That is why they are in the situation they are in.

“That I can be on board with. But that was always going to be a concerning issue. Any Badger fan that didn’t realize that didn’t do their homework to start the year off, and they looked at #16 in the country and they thought this team is where it’s at.

“Every team has some warts. Every team in college basketball. And if you’ve watched enough college basketball this year, you’ve seen that ranking number one move away from a whole bunch of teams. So I know that Wisconsin is not playing great. They got 10 [games left]. If they go 6-4, go .500 in the Big Ten and they get a win in the Big Tournament, they are in the Tournament.”

Butch goes on to say that he does not believe in “bubbles” on January 30. A lot can happen between the end of January and March.
