Isaiah Austin, Baylor’s 7-foot center and perennial shot blocker, announced that he is entering the 2014 NBA draft earlier this afternoon.
The decision comes exactly a week later after Austin took to Twitter to dispel rumors that he had made his decision to enter the draft.
Whenever Austin first got to Baylor, many NBA scouts and media analysts projected the big man to stay at Baylor for one year before making the jump to the Association. An offseason shoulder injury ultimately derailed his plans to go, so he returned to school where he led the Big 12 in blocked shots with 119 rejections.
His play, along with Cory Jefferson’s, was a big reason in Baylor’s tournament run after missing the tournament entirely during his freshman year.
