When senior guard Sean Kilpatrick arrived on the University of Cincinnati campus five years ago, no one had to tell him about Oscar Robertson. He was already well-versed in the accomplishments of the Big O.
“I actually have a poster of the Big O in my room that my dad gave me when I first got to campus,” Kilpatrick said. “My dad told me that he was the best to ever play here. I look at it every day as motivation.”
If Kilpatrick reaches his season scoring average of 20.1 points against Central Florida on Wednesday night in Orlando, he will move past Steve Logan into second place on UC’s career scoring list. He needs 19 to surpass Logan’s 1,985 points.
At that point, only the legendary Robertson, whose retired jersey number 12 hangs on the south wall of Fifth Third Arena, will have scored more points as a Bearcat.
