Last year Marshall’s DeAndre Kane led the NCAA in technical fouls with 7. Currently, there are three players tied with 5; with the season soon coming to an end, all their arguing will finally earn them the crown for league leader in techs. Technical fouls say a lot about one’s character…it simply says they don’t take **** from nobody. So far Troy Huff, Kyle O’Quinn, and Andres Torres have proved they are the most short-tempered badasses in the NCAA.

Troy Huff (Guard, Sophomore, North Dakota)- Huff is the youngest out of the bunch in his 2nd season. Huff is one of the top players for the Fighting Sioux averaging 13.2 ppg  and 6 rpg. North Dakota is 12-14, and they haven’t had a winning streak longer than 2 games. With the combination of consistently losing, and Huff’s personal inconsistent 38.2 FG%, he tends to get upset which quickly leads to technical fouls. It really must be frustrating to play in North Dakota to begin with.

Andres Torres (Guard, Senior, Hartford)- Torres is leading Hartford with 11.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg, and 4.1 apg. Despite his personal best season, the Hawks started off the season 0-13, and currently have a record of 8-19. Torres must be frustrated considering he is the leading scorer, and the only player averaging double-digits. Furthermore he is averaging 3.6 turnovers per game; we all know the simple equation: Technical fouls= Turnovers+ Losing

Kyle O’Quinn (Forward/Center, Senior, Norfolk State)- O’Quinn is literally a monster (figuratively speaking of course). He has 17 double-doubles, averaging 16.3 ppg, 10.7 rpg, and 2.7 bpg easily making him one of the most underrated players in the NCAA. If you haven’t been tracking Norfolk State they are 18-9 and 2nd place in the Mid-Eastern Conference. O’Quinn is extremely aggressive and leads the team in personal fouls with 3.5 per game. I’m sure O’Quinn is getting technical fouls because he feels disrespected…he’s shooting 59% from the field, so if he misses a shot and complains you can assume the big fella got fouled. And if he’s not getting that call, then he’s getting a foul called on him at the other end.

My prediction: I think Kyle O’Quinn will end up with the most techs. He’s on the best team out of the three, and as these games get more important down the road they will become much more intense, which will definitely lead to some bad calls.  Maybe Huff will win it next year.
