Allen Crabbe scored 20 points, Justin Cobbs had 17 and California pulled away in the final 12 minutes to beat Denver 72-61 on Friday night. David Kravish had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Bears, who had five players score in double figures. Crabbe, who scored a career-high 33 against Pepperdine on Tuesday, had 17 points in the second half and helped key a decisive run to keep the Bears undefeated on the young season. Brett Olson had 17 and leading scorer Chris Udofia had 16 points for the Pioneers. Sophomore Royce O'Neale heated up late to finish with 14 points for Denver. Cal (3-0) led by one at the break but quickly opened up a seven-point lead behind the scoring of Cobbs and Robert Thurman.
