Consensus First Team All-American Doug McDermott scored 20 points, as Creighton opened the season with a 107-61 blowout win over Alcorn State. Ethan Wragge and Devin Brooks each scored 15 points while Jahenns Manigat had 13 and Will Artino added 12 for the Bluejays. McDermott was limited in the second half as he was charged with his fourth personal foul with 13:18 left in the game and never returned. McDermott scored the Bluejays' opening six points and nine of his team's first 11 as Creighton opened up a 16-7 lead. But the Braves put together a 16-6 run, sparked by Devontae Hampton's three straight 3-pointers, to give Alcorn State a 23-22 advantage with 9:32 remaining in the first half.
