The schedule is finally out for Duke’s 2013-14 basketball season.  This is an opportunity to see the schedule and anticipate how well the team will do this season.  It’s also a chance for people to see how many quality games there are on the schedule.  It gives fans a chance to see how many games they should win or games that could give the Duke Blue Devils a challenge. This should be an interesting year for the Duke Blue Devils; with three quality teams being added to the ACC, they will have plenty of tough games throughout the year.  They will be challenged more often and have to come ready to play every game. The opening game is a mid-major team in Davidson, but they are an opponent that every team has to show up for.  After that, they have to go to the State Farm Champions Classic, where we get to see the top two members of the freshmen class, Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker. Duke will be playing in three tournaments this year in the State Farm Champions Classic, Preseason NIT, and CARQUEST Auto Parts Classic.  These tournaments will test them early in the year and the ACC teams will test them to prepare them for the NCAA tournament. The ACC portion of the schedule is going to be more difficult this year with additions of Syracuse, Notre Dame, and Pittsburg.  They will have to bring their best game every night and won’t even be able to take nights off against the lesser teams in the league like Boston College or Virginia. The easiest part for the Blue Devils is the beginning of the ACC schedule.  After their first game against Notre Dame, they have four of the next six games at home and only Clemson and Miami on the road.  This should be a part of their schedule that they should be able to take advantage of and start out playing well against ACC opponents. Duke will look to go undefeated again this season at home.  The tough games at home for the Blue Devils will be Michigan early in the season, North Carolina and Syracuse at the end of the season.  It will be tough to go undefeated in Durham, but without any major injuries, should be attainable. The toughest stretch of the schedule is the State Farm Champions Classic.  They start with Kansas and could play Kentucky or Michigan State in the championship game.  The other tough stretch is in the middle of the season starting on January 27th with back to back games against Pittsburgh and Syracuse.  They then have a game at Boston College and at North Carolina. The release of the schedule should have every basketball fan waiting for the season to start.  Also it will get every fan preparing for the season. This schedule should get them ready for the NCAA tournament and show every Duke fan what to expect.
