Found March 24, 2012 on Orange Fizz:
New York Times Syracuse easily faces its toughest matchup of the season tonight against Ohio State. This is how it should be. There are only 8 teams left. Ohio State is a lot like Syracuse in that the Buckeyes have a lot of guys who can score and they defend very well. The difference in the two teams is how they score and how they defend. Syracuse is as perimeter oriented as you could be. While the Orange likes to get to the rim, the entire offense is run through the guards. There are no designed post-ups. It’s almost exclusively high pick and roll and doing a multitude of things off of it. The Buckeyes want to pound inside with Jared Sullinger and Deshaun Thomas. The goal for OSU is to get those guys as many touches as possible. If the zone collapses and they get kickout threes for William Buford, Aaron Craft and Lenzelle Smith, Jr. then so be it, but the focus is paint touches for Sullinger. Defensively, the Orange plays zone. Duh. Ohio State plays a tough man-to-man defense led ...

Sullinger Shines in Buckeyes’ Win Over Bearcats

Ohio State forward Jared Sullinger, currently on a social media hiatus, showed why he is a projected lottery pick in the upcoming NBA draft as the Ohio State Buckeyes beat the Cincinnati Bearcats 81-66 on Thursday night. Sullinger scored 23 points and grabed 11 rebounds while only taking 13 shots from the floor. Sullinger was...Read the Rest...

With Sullinger Out, Syracuse Couldn’t Land the Haymaker Before Halftime

AP Photo/Elise Amendola Syracuse had its best regular season it school history, went undefeated at home, won 17 Big East games, and was ranked either #1 or #2 in the country for the majority of the year. However, Saturday night in the TD Garden SU fell just short of completing its dream of cutting down the nets and advancing to New Orleans. Ohio State was a tough matchup for SU...

Ohio State-Syracuse liveblog. It's for the Final Four!

Getty Images / Jim Rogash Friday night I picked up some “Mind Putty” at a brain store, and working it like a madman in my stress for this Elite 8 game, so figured I might as well try to channel it into words. Because the “ugghs” and “ohhs” and other less typeable utterances that I have let go of during the first ten minutes of the game have got to go somewhere. Ohio...

Jared Sullinger and The Ohio State Buckeyes win with their flaws

Saturday night Jared Sullinger led The Ohio State Buckeyes back to the Final Four. That’s right the Bucks with all their flaws are going to the big dance after knocking off Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse Orange men. Many people have already tried to diminish their accomplishment because Fab Melo was ruled academically ineligible for the tournament. To those people I would say, ...

Kansas' Thomas Robinson leads AP All-America team

Kansas forward Thomas Robinson is a unanimous pick for The Associated Press' All-America team, while Ohio State forward Jared Sullinger is a repeat selection. Draymond Green of Michigan State, freshman Anthony Davis of Kentucky and Creighton's Doug McDermott rounded out the team Monday. Robinson received first-team votes from all 65 members of the national media panel that...

Ohio State's Sullinger named All-American

Kansas forward Thomas Robinson has even more in common with Blake Griffin now. Not everything, though. Robinson, who played through personal tragedy as a sophomore reserve, capped his junior season by being a unanimous selection to The Associated Press' All-America team Monday, a day after leading the Jayhawks to the Final Four. The 6-foot-10 Robinson averaged 17.9 points and...

Thursday Tourney action tough to stomach

Thursday's sloppy mess I was fairly excited. Home relatively early on a Thursday evening. A full slate of meaningful tourney games. Spread out nicely. Forget what I said about college basketball. It’s on, right? Unfortunately, it was on. And it was awful to watch. One of the interesting side effects of having a young child at home is that I find myself increasingly watching...

Elite 8 Fizz 5: Officating, Dion & Was This Season Still a Success?

AP Photo/Elise Amendola Ohio State beat Syracuse 77-70 to end the Orange’s historic season, and the final score played out roughly like we all predicted. But the game itself was dictated by the officiating, a sour end to an incredible season. SU clearly missed Fab Melo as Jared Sullinger had 19 points in limited minutes and couldn’t be stopped in the clutch. Deshaun Thomas had...

Buckeyes Squeeze Orange, Head To The Bayou For Final Four

From the time I began writing about this team in November, I saw a young Ohio State group very unsure of the team they wanted to be. With that doubt, I also saw loads of untapped potential. All season long, it was a constant struggle to get this team to perform up to its ability. Last night, however, The Ohio State Buckeyes realized their potential. They are going to the Final Four...
