EAST LANSING, Mich. On two legs, Victor Oladipo might be the best player in college basketball.
As it turns out, the Indiana junior guard isn't bad on one leg, either.
Playing on a sprained ankle, Oladipo capped a big game by scoring six points in the final 45 seconds, allowing top-ranked Indiana to escape with its first win at Michigan State in 22 years, 72-68 on Tuesday...
Every time Victor Oladipo has a performance that you think he can’t top, he goes and does something like he did tonight…and totally exceeds himself!
Still dealing with a tender ankle, Oladipo made up for any physical limitations by playing perhaps the grittiest, toughest, smartest game of his career. As he does so often in big games, he made big play after big play, finishing...
No. 1 Indiana stormed into the Izzone last night with star player Victor Oladipo and his block party in tow. Oladipo and his 19 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and one block helped lift the Hoosiers to a 72-68 win over No. 4 Michigan State.
Ever since the very first time I heard him speak, during an interview at his first Hoosier Hysteria event back in 2010, I thought Victor Oladipo had a chance to one day become an all-time favorite of mine.
I don’t remember exactly what he said, but I remember feeling such a genuine excitement about being Bloomington – my beloved Bloomington – coming from this East Coast kid...
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Indiana moved to 6-1 in Big Ten road games with Tuesday night’s 72-68 win over Michigan State at the Breslin Center, the first win for the program in East Lansing since 1991. The Hoosiers have won fourth straight overall and now sit a game ahead of the Spartans in the Big Ten standings.
Here’s a look at five takeaways from IU’s second win over Michigan...
Great game last night to say the least between the #1 ranked Indiana Hoosiers and the #4 ranked Michigan State Spartans. Victor Oladipo lead the way for the Hoosiers with a couple big plays down the stretch, and dropped 19 points in their 72-68 win over Michigan State.
Derrick Nix vs. Cody Zeller might have been even more interesting than the game itself. Both players gave...
BELOW THE BELT
Cody Zeller and Derrick Nix appeared to trade low blows during the Indiana-Michigan State game, but there may have been acting.
The Indiana Hoosiers proved once again why they are atop the college basketball world, as they defeated the #4 Michigan State Spartans by a final score of 72-68. The victory snapped a 17 game losing streak – dating back to 1991 – on the road to the Spartans. Victor Oladipo led the Hoosiers in scoring [...]
When Michigan State coach Tom Izzo addressed the media ahead of Tuesday night’s game with No. 1 Indiana, he talked about the endless storylines involving the game. He wasn’t kidding.
Two top five teams. First place in the Big Ten on the line. A Magic Johnson homecoming. Victor Oladipo’s ankle. Mentor (Izzo) vs. student (Tom Crean). Indiana vs. Michigan State.
The road to the Big Ten championship goes through Ann Arbor.
The only problem? Michigan's going to need some help in order to be part of the battle.
After Indiana beat Michigan State on Tuesday, the top-ranked Hoosiers now have a one-game lead over the Spartans atop the conference. Michigan and Wisconsin, both with four losses, are another game back.
So why does Michigan play...
This game was supposed to be about Michigan State. At least that’s what we were led to believe. This was the Spartans chance to take control of the Big Ten race, to make a case for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and to do so in front of their beloved hero, Magic Johnson.
Nobody, it seemed, wanted the Hoosiers to win this game. Few believed they could. Not the broadcasters...
When you have the No. 1 and No. 4 teams meet you know--or at least hope--that you are going to have a great game on your hands. Fans that did tune in for the IU/MSU match up Tuesday night got just that.
With a little about a minute and a half left in the game the Spartans held a four point lead on the Hoosiers.
Indiana must not have wanted to see if they could lose and still...
