Alandise Harris had 20 points and nine rebounds Monday night as Houston beat Utah Valley 84-71.
Joseph Young scored 19 points and Kirk Van Slyke contributed 18 points and eight rebounds in 18 minutes for the Cougars (2-0). Van Slyke was 10 of 11 from the free-throw line as Houston went 29 for 37 for the game in foul shots. The Cougars led 43-37 at halftime.
Isiah Williams led Utah Valley (1-1) with 19 points. Keith Thompson scored 11 points and Geddes Robinson grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds for the Wolverines.
