BREAKING: Illinois Basketball Lands Former Top 40 Prospect

Illinois Basketball has made its second transfer portal addition. In an under-the-radar move, Illinois Basketball lands a verbal commitment from Tre White. White is a former top-40 prospect per 247 and has played two years of college basketball. Tre played his freshman year at USC and then transferred to Louisville. Though Louisville was a terrible team, White averaged 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds . White brings a much-needed, proven high-major scorer on the wing. After losing Terrence Shannon Jr and (likely) Marcus Domask, Illinois needs that go-to guy on the perimeter. Tre White is a proven college basketball player that will fill that bill.

Booty Ball 2.0?

Tre White is a 6 foot 6 guard/forward who looks the part of a “booty-ball” player. He has great length and wirey athleticism. As a result, he thrives in the mid-range and around the rim. His outside shot does need work, however, his experience and proven scoring ability on the wing will be huge for Illinois. All in all, Illinois Basketball continues to chase after length and versatility on the perimeter. They are heavily involved with older and longer perimeter players. After Jase Butler asked to be released from his national letter of intent, Illinois now has an additional scholarship to use on a “portal” player.

They are heavily after AJ Storr, Dante Maddox Jr, Carey Booth, and many other intriguing prospects. As “portal season” goes on, Illinois Basketball’s roster construction will be interesting to watch develop.
