The minute Indiana guard Verdell Jones crumpled over in pain, you knew his knee injury wasn't good. In the first half of Thursday's Big Ten Tournament game against Penn State, Jones was trying to come to a stop at the foul line to pass the ball, but instead of stopping, his right knee kept going.
With a 25-7 overall record, Indiana is headed to their first NCAA Tournament during Jones' career as a Hoosier. While no official word had been announced after the completion of the game, IU coach Tom Crean confirmed Hoosiers fans' worst fears. "It's not good." Crean went on to say that Jones has meant a ton to the Indiana program. Jones started with Crean at Indiana and has been integral in bringing the program back to the national stage.

Crean's admiration for Jones is obvious as he struggled to remain composed during the interview.

Jones' injury is the second significant loss a Big Ten has faced in the last week. On Sunday, Michigan State lost freshman forward Branden Dawson to a torn ACL.
