Jay Bilas is not the type of person to keep his mouth shut, especially if he disagrees with something. While announcing the Texas-Michigan State game on Saturday, Bilas went into a rant about the NCAA suspending Texas sophomore point guard Myck Kabongo for 23 games.Kabongo was originally suspended for the entire 2012-2013 by the NCAA for receiving impermissible benefits, airfare and personal training, while also providing false information to Texas officials. Texas appealed the suspension and Kabongo will be able to return on February 13th against Iowa State.Bilas wonders why a player, who is testing the NBA draft waters, would choose to come back to school if there is a likelihood that the NCAA will go looking for things to rule them ineligible. Bilas also feels as though it is unfair that the players don’t automatically get legal counseling when there is an inference of an NCAA violation.Another point that Bilas brings into questions is why the NCAA calls Kabongo a lair but not Penn State’s president, Graham Spanier. It seems like Bilas has been harboring much ill will about the recent NCAA issues, but he brings up many issues that certainly need further discussion.
