Tweet A Kansas freshman that is being considered as a potential number one pick will be entering the 2014 NBA Draft. Only it’s not the Kansas freshman most assumed before the season. Per a report from Y! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, Joel Embiid, the 20-year-old seven footer for the Jayhawks, will be entering the draft this year. Woj is reporting that Embiid has already started the process of selecting an agent, which would officially void Embiid’s remaining eligibility. Embiid emerged throughout the season as a legit NBA-level talent, possessing ideal size for a pro center, a soft touch around the basket and a higher than expected basketball IQ before being shut down in early March due to a stress fracture in his back. His potential has drawn comparisons to Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon at a similar stage in his development. In the 28 games he played in Embiid averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in just 23 minutes per game. Despite his injury, Embiid flashed enough potential to solidify himself as a top-5 draft prospect with a very bright future ahead of him in a stacked draft class. Out of the teams with the five worst records in the league — the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic and Utah Jazz — three are in need of a big man, making Embiid a virtual lock to be selected early. -ALR

True centers are hard to come by nowadays in the NBA, so when you have the opportunity to take one, most NBA teams will jump on the opportunity. What Went Wrong with the 2013-2014 Jayhawks?

I wanted to take my time with this reaction and not let the emotion of the loss to Stanford and the ensuing media fallout influence my thoughts on this season. Here we are on the eve of the Sweet 16, and by all accounts, this ultra-talented Jayhawk team should still be dancing. Instead, they will be watching from home and the coaching staff will get an early start to their major...
