Player of the year Anthony Davis has Kentucky right where it expected to be, in the national title game, scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds as the Wildcats held off pesky Louisville 69-61 on Saturday night. As the final seconds ticked down, Davis screamed at the crowd and pointed to the court as if to say, ''This is our house.'' Yes, yes it is. Louisville (30-10) rallied from a 13-point deficit, tying the game at 49 on a 3-pointer from NBA range by Peyton Siva with 9:11 to play. But Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who played sparingly because of foul trouble, made back-to-back buckets to give the Wildcats some breathing room. Darius Miller then made a 3 - Kentucky's second of the game - to give the Wildcats control for good. Kentucky (37-2) will play the winner of Kansas-Ohio State in Monday night's title game.

Kentucky's Davis wins Wooden Award

Kentucky Wildcats freshman Anthony Davis was named the winner of the Wooden Award on Saturday as the top men's basketball player in the nation. The 6-foot-10 Davis, who had 18 points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots Saturday as Kentucky (37-2) beat in-state rival Louisville 69-61 to reach the NCAA title game, is the second freshman to win the award -- Kevin Durant of Texas...

Kentucky's defense comes up big against Louisville

The highlight packages will be full of Anthony Davis' one-hand jam off an alley-oop pass and a couple of his hook shots - including one with his non-shooting hand - but what got Kentucky to its 11th national championship game was defense. A lot of defense. The Wildcats didn't break the 80-point mark as they did in their first four NCAA tournament games - the first team...

No. 1 Kentucky 69, No. 17 Louisville 61

Kentucky wound up right where it expected to be all along. Even if it took a little work to get there. Anthony Davis and top-seeded Kentucky will play for the national title Monday night after finally putting away pesky Louisville 69-61 in the Final Four on Saturday night. It will be Kentucky's first appearance in the title game since winning a seventh NCAA crown back in 1998...

Davis changes everything for Kentucky

The play of the game, a contest that has delivered John Calipari to his moment of truth or consequence, will go all but unremembered. It was provided, appropriately enough, by the player of the year, Anthony Davis. But this wasn't a dunk, or one of Davis' typically spectacular blocks, the kind that infect opponents with a sudden sense of defeat. It was merely an offensive...

Breakdown of Kentucky’s Final Four win over Louisville

Kentucky-69 Louisville-61 -The star for the Wildcats was once again Anthony Davis. Just like Kentucky is clearly the best team in the country Davis is clearly the best player in the nation. All the freshman did against Louisville was finish with 18 points, bring down 14 rebounds, and block 5 shots. He was 7 of 8 shooting from the field. Two of those field goals were...

Kentucky off to title game, beats Louisville

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Kentucky wound up right where it expected to be all along. Even if it took a little work to get there. Anthony Davis and top-seeded Kentucky will play for the national title Monday night after finally putting away pesky Louisville 69-61 in the Final Four on Saturday night. It will be Kentucky's first appearance in the title game since winning a seventh...

Anthony Davis voted college basketball play of the year

For Kentucky's Anthony Davis it has been a remarkable season that already includes SEC Offensive & Defensive player of the year awards. However, as Davis and the rest of the Wildcats prepare for the Louisville Cardinals Saturday in the Final Four, news broke that Davis had been voted The Associated Press men's college basketball Player of the Year. Davis received 43...

John Calipari, Anthony Davis, and the 2012 Kentucky Wildcats…the greatest AAU team of all-time

John Calipari has done it again by leading the Kentucky Wildcats to the Final Four. Now the only question to ask is when will this appearance be vacated? I put the over/under at 3 years or a year after John Calipari leaves. I know I may piss off Kentucky fans with that assertion, but it will happen. That just the way my boy John does business. You can’t assemble the 31st NBA team...

Championship breakdown: Robinson vs. Davis

NEW ORLEANS -- A national championship game showcasing the top two players in the country is uncommon territory. Not since 2001 have the John R. Wooden Award winner and runner-up played in the title game, and that year, Duke's Shane Battier and Jay Williams were on the same team. Sifting through the previous winners of the prestigious award and it's obvious that national...

The 20 best players at the Final Four

1.Anthony Davis (Kentucky) – Davis will be the Player, Freshman, and Defensive Player of the Year. He is clearly the best player in the nation. Just look what he is doing in the NCAA tournament. Davis is averaging 14.5 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, and 2.7 assists. His skill for his size separates him from only players. 2.Jared Sullinger (Ohio State) – Sullinger...

The Kentucky Wildcats cannot beat a pro team

For the past couple of weeks, we have had different people give their opinion on just how good the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team is. They are wonderfully talented, and seem to be in control of their own destiny heading into the Final Four this Saturday after only losing 2 games this season. Anthony Davis seems to be the surefire #1 pick in this years draft, while Michael Kidd...

Kansas, Kentucky to meet in power-program final

Jayhawks or Wildcats, take your pick. Either can make a case for this being ''their'' year. For Kansas, a season that started with low expectations keeps getting better, filled with high-wire comebacks and a feeling this is simply meant to be. For Kentucky, a cadre of NBA-caliber players have had the word ''champion'' practically imprinted on their...

Prediction Kentucky and Louisville

Kentucky is playing lights out right now they are clearly the best team in the country. I don’t know if some of the bad NBA teams could beat them right now. Michael Kidd Gilchrist is still the best freshman in the country behind Davis. No one can stop him from driving to the basket he just has too much strength. After struggling the 1st weekend Gilchrist was unstoppable...
