Well, they went to overtime and the Explorers defeated the Wildcats 77-74. This was the first time in 11 years, that the Explorers have defeated the Wildcats. The Explorers won this game with the help of their two experienced guards in junior Tyreek Duren and senior Ramon Galloway. Duren would hit the game tying three in the waning moments of the second half to send the game into overtime and Galloway would help La Salle get back into the game as Villanova was up by as much as 11 points. Ramon Galloway had 26 points and five steals on the day and Tyreek Duren had 23 points, five assists, and 3 of 8 from three point range. What kept the Explorers in the game was their free throw shooting. They shot 76.2 percent from the line while the Wildcats missed some key free throws in the second half and shot 69.2 percent from the line. For the Wildcats, leading the way in scoring was senior big man Mouphtaou Yarou who had 20 points and seven rebounds. They also got a huge lift off the bench from sophomore forward JayVaughn Pinkston who had 19 points and seven rebounds in 27 minutes of game action. Villanova's superstar freshman guard Ryan Arcidiacono only had six points and seven assists, while shooting 1 of 7 from the field. The Explorers are now 3-1 on the season and their next game will be on Thursday at 7:00 pm as they take on the Rider University Broncos. Finally, the Wildcats are now 3-3 on the season and their next game will be on Saturday at 5:00 pm as they will go on the road and take on the Vanderbilt Commodores.
