There wasn't a whole lot La Verne could do when UNLV started playing its swarming defense and started going hard to the boards. The numbers were all in favor of the 20th-ranked Runnin' Rebels in their 91-44 victory over Division III La Verne on Thursday night. UNLV (8-1) led throughout in winning its sixth straight game. The Rebels outrebounded La Verne 49-23. They had 13 steals and blocked five shots. The Rebels dominated offensively as well, shooting 53 percent (31 of 59) from the field to the Leopards' 31 percent (16 of 51). It carried on behind the 3-point line as UNLV made 7 of 15 while La Verne was 4 of 20. Vince Bauer had 16 points and Jake Veith added 11 for the Leopards (1-5) in their fifth straight loss.
