Julian Boyd scored 20 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked two shots to help LIU Brooklyn beat Lafayette 71-60 on Saturday. Jamal Olasewere finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and five steals for the Blackbirds (2-4), who have won two straight. Jason Brickman had 12 points and 10 assists, and C.J. Garner added 11 points. LIU Brooklyn trailed 42-39 with 11:54 left in the second half when Lafayette's Seth Hinrichs made two free throws. But the Leopards (2-7) lost their lead and were unable to relinquish it after Brandon Thompson's 3-pointer with 9:42 left. The Blackbirds used a 10-1 run, led by Boyd's seven points, to give them a 59-49 lead with 2:35 left in the game and build enough cushion for the win. Dan Trist had 15 points with five turnovers for Lafayette, which remains winless on the road this season. Levi Giese had 14 points and Hinrichs added 10.
