One of the main topics at Rick Pitino’s press conference on Tuesday afternoon was the academic success from the Louisville men’s basketball program in recent years, particularly this past season.  Pitino’s team is one of three at the University of Louisville that is among the top 10 percent in their sport, per the APR data. Below is a release from the sports information department at UofL. UofL’s men’s basketball program is among the top 10 percent in their respective sports in the latest APR, which measures academic eligibility, retention and graduation for student-athletes. From 2008-12 the men’s basketball team had an APR score of 995 out of 1000. The 2013 NCAA men’s basketball champion Cardinals have excelled not only on the court, but in the classroom as well.  The team produced a collective 3.295 grade point average for the 2012-13 academic year, with a record 3.41 combined GPA for the fall semester, the highest ever for the Cardinals.  A total of 15 of 17 Cardinals earned a...
