Louis Bell scored 21 points and sparked a game-winning run to lead Maryland-Eastern Shore over American 64-62 in overtime Monday night. American scored the first six points of overtime, behind three points each from Blake Jolivette and Charles Hinkle to lead 62-56, but went 0 of 5 from the field and turned the ball over once in the game's final 3:05. Bell then hit a layup and a 3-pointer, and Percy Woods made two free throws to put the Hawks (1-1) up for good, 63-62, with 24 seconds left. Mark Robertson's free throw for UMES with 13 seconds was the final margin, and Hinkle missed a fade-away 3 at the buzzer. UMES led 55-44 with 3:45 left in regulation before the Eagles used a 12-1 run to send it into overtime on Jolivette's layup. Woods had 12 points for the Hawks. Hinkle paced the Eagles (0-2) with 25 points.
