Score: No. 10 Michigan State 71, Northwestern 61 Star(s): Michigan State: Keith Appling 16 Pts, 4 Reb. Northwestern: Kale Abrahamson 16 Pts, 4 Reb. Story: It was senior night at the Breslin Center as Michigan State ended its regular season play with a 71-61 victory over Northwestern. With MSU locked in as the third seed for the Big Ten Tournament after Indiana’s victory over Michigan, there didn’t seem to be as much motivation from the Spartans. But both teams played hard, and Northwestern was able to hang with MSU the entire game. The Wildcats were able to tie the score with just over six minutes to play, but key buckets by Derrick Nix and Keith Appling gave the Spartans the cushion they needed to escape with the victory. Nix was also celebrated on an emotional Senior Night. Thank you Derrick. twitter.com/MSUpartystorie… — MSUpartystories (@MSUpartystories) March 10, 2013 Izzo ends it with a rousing, “See you in Chicago!” to lead into the playing of the MSU Shadows alma mater song. —Chris Solari (@chrissolari) March 11, 2013 4 Spartans with double figures tonight. ill take that. — Jonah Becker(@KILLJonah_) March 11, 2013 I get chills every time a #Spartan kisses the floor of the Bres on senior night. Thanks to one of my fav Spartans @derricknix25 #gogreen — Kim Sanders (@ksanders244) March 11, 2013
