CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Joe Coleman scored 29 points and Andre Hollins added 22 to help No. 8 Minnesota top No. 12 Illinois Wednesday 84-67 and remain undefeated in the Big Ten.
BEST OF MAXIM
All the numbers from Minnesota's 84-67 win over No. 12 Illinois at Assembly Hall. Joe Coleman had a career-high 29 points for Minnesota while Brandon Paul lead Illinois with 21 points.
So, the Gophers just destroyed the Illinois Fighting Illini. The #12 ranked team in the nation. On the road. By 17 points. Which is on the heels of winning their first two conference games by 13 and then 18 points. Honestly, I don’t even know what to say. I’m numb. This is what winning at [...]
Thanks to the athleticism of college basketball players, poster dunks happen almost every night in the real of college hoops.
During last night's Minnesota/Illinois tilt, check out Illinois Brandon Paul who rises up to throw down a nasty dunk on Minnesota Trevor Mbakwe:
Interesting postscript: Paul was called for a charge on the play but somehow the basket still counted...
Illinois Brandon Paul is one of the most underrated players in the country and last night he had one of the best dunks of the college basketball season.
Paul had the ball out near the three point line and then he beat his defender off the dribble and headed to the hoop. Minnesota’s Trevor Mbakwe tried to stop him but Paul went up and dunked on him. Paul was called for the charge...

It is the second weekend in January, and the Golden Gophers, yes, your Golden Gophers, are playing in what might be the game of the year in the Big Ten. Regardless of what happens against the Hoosier, they'll play their second consecutive top ten opponent on Thursday. GOLDEN GOPHER, ILLINI-ED?
A quick look at Illinois' Wednesday opponent -- the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
MINNEAPOLIS Gophers sophomore point guard Andre Hollins has burst onto the college basketball scene this year, and now he's being recognized for it.
Hollins was named as one of 20 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, which is given each year to the top point guard in college basketball. The list will be cut down to 10 players by early February, then again to a final five in March...
You mean I have to write this preview already? It feels like the Illinois game just ended. And man, what a game. The Gophers defense is absolutely ridiculous. I've never seen a team handle their rotations so well, and even Joe Coleman is looking semi-competent on that end. That defense creates so many opportunities to run, whether through turnovers or missed shots,...
