Mississippi junior Murphy Holloway has been cleared to play immediately by both the NCAA and Southeastern Conference, giving the Rebels an experienced scorer and rebounder in the post.
The 6-foot-7 Holloway averaged 10.1 points and 7.6 rebounds two years ago for Ole Miss before deciding to transfer to South Carolina to be closer to his home in Irmo, S.C., because of family issues.
Holloway was never released from his scholarship by Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy, so he attended South Carolina and practiced with the Gamecocks but did not receive an athletic scholarship.
Now that Holloway's issues have been resolved, he transferred back to Ole Miss, but had to ask for a transfer waiver to avoid missing a season. Ole Miss spokesman Joey Jones confirmed Holloway was cleared on Wednesday.
