The Washington Nationals today unveiled a new look for their mascot “Screech”, who appears to have gone on a bit of a diet, and lost his talons in exchange for “cleats” and socks. The original, more svelte version of  “Screech” appeared on April 17, 2005 for the Nationals, so named because, as the Nationals tell it, “he was always screeching about his favorite team.” Over the past four years “Screech” has been seen at Nationals games, birthday parties, picnics, other ballparks and stadiums and out in the community.  Beginning with appearances on Monday, March 2 at the ESPN Zone and Children’s National Medical Center , “Screech” will make 31 appearances in 31 days to show off his fresh-feathered look. On Tuesday, March 3 along with members of the Nat Pack, “Screech” will distribute pocket schedules to fans at the Metro Center Metrorail Station, from 9:00am to 11:00am and Farragut North Metrorail Station from noon to 2:00pm. “Screech” will also make stops at the March Mania basketba...
