It took Kentucky freshman big man Nerlens Noel a minute to get himself in gear, but he’s starting to find the rhythm that made him the #1 overall recruit last year. Kentucky as a program is down from last season but Noel is starting to rise up.  In this video courtesy of the Big Lead Noel catches a alley-oop over an Auburn defender and has to literally try to clear his head to finish the dunk. I give it a 8 out 10 on the scale.  Would have been much nastier if he would have completely jumped over the defender.

Noel jumps over Auburn player for alley-oop

Wait...what?

Noel named SEC Freshman of Week

All four Kentucky freshmen have now earned the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Week honor this season after center Nerlens Noel was selected for his play in the Wildcats' wins over Tennessee and Auburn.

Kentucky shows improvement in SEC

Now that John Calipari's young Kentucky squad has shown its capable of playing with the kind of intensity and teamwork it takes to dominate a conference opponent, the Wildcats coach would like his team to do it consistently. Kentucky (12-5, 3-1) is looking for its third consecutive win in Tuesday night's Southeastern Conference game at Alabama. The Crimson Tide (11-6, 3...

2013 Prospectus: Kentucky Wildcats

Joker Phillips finished his career as the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats with a career record 13-24 and an SEC record of just 4-20. 2012 was the worst of the three years for Phillips as his team finished in the basement of the SEC East and went just 2-10 overall and 0-8 in the SEC. Coming into the 2012 season, the Wildcats had lost Danny Trevathan and Winston Guy Jr off...

Wildcats 'whomp' Auburn

Kentucky got another strong performance by sophomore forward Kyle Wiltjer and saw Nerlens Noel overcome foul trouble to stuff the stat sheet once again as the Wildcats, contrary to John Calipari's predictions, finally "whomped" an opponent.

‘Cats “whomp” Auburn, 75-53.

This game started off ugly, for everyone. Despite the arena being full of southern college coeds, nothing could help shield your eyes from the dreadful offensive starts at both ends of the floor. At the first media timeout, each team traded baskets for a dismal 4-4 tie. The ‘Cats started a scary 2-14 from the floor, but finished the half 10-14. On three point baskets, the teams...

Cats crumble late, fall to ‘Bama 59-55

After an impressive showing in Auburn, the ‘Cats looked to build on that momentum and leave the state of Alabama with two straight road wins and sole possession of 3rd place in the SEC. If you went to bed after the first half, you would think the ‘Cats took care of business down the stretch. The Tide had other plans. Still without Willie Cauley-Stein, Nerlens Noel needed to play...
